Raised in Boston and displaced to Brooklyn, Laura G. Duncan recently graduated from NYU’s Gallatin School of Individualized Study with a degree in Medical Anthropology and Human Sexuality Studies. Her research deals with issues of sexuality within medicine, focusing on health care literacy and accessibility in underserved communities, as well the influence of sexual medicine on social and individual understandings of sexuality.

She has worked as a sex educator in high schools, medical schools, a condom company and health non-profits. In addition to her current work in clinical breast cancer research, she is a doula with The Doula Project and a Gynecological Teaching Associate. Past publications include educational materials and web resources on sexual health and behavior, relationships and communication skills, as well as a paper coauthored for The American Journal of Human Biology.

Public appearances have included classes on contraception and STI prevention, a workshop on female sexual pleasure and health, guest spots on radio shows and themed readings. For the past year, she has been performing a multimedia presentation on sexual robotics and teledildonics in venues around New York City.

She is also the proud owner of one handmade Star Trek uniform, turn of the century erotic memoirs and a stack of 1920’s anatomical drawings.
